What is the weight range suitable for the hipseat carrier?
Although we recommend using carriers at the point when your baby can support their own head, i-Angel baby hipseat carriers are suitable from 7.75 pounds to 44.0 pounds.
What age is suitable for the various iAngel baby wearing positions?
As every baby is different, we recommend using the carrier at the point when your baby can support their own head. To ensure your baby's safety, for precautionary reasons, we have a recommended use age of 3 - 36 months for almost all of our carriers. The exception being the Rainbow 2 which can be used beginning 30 days after birth - 36 months. Please be aware, it is prudent to consider the baby's age in conjunction with their size, development, & weight as well.
What are the benefits of baby wearing?
Innately, both parents and baby desire a close connection and an emotional bond. The ancient answer of baby wearing has become today's essential way of moving & being with your baby.
Here are some of the many benefits:
Babies spend less time crying and fussing. They are calmer because their needs are being met.
Babies are more alert; the sounds of the womb (mother’s rhythmic voice, heartbeat and breathing) are still helping to regulate the baby
Babies are interactive sooner. They see and hear everything their wearer sees and hears; and can study facial expressions, learn languages quicker and understand body language.
Babies are smarter because they are intimately involved in the environment of their parents. Developmental milestones such as learning to walk, talk, and toilet train are reached earlier
Babies develop better self esteem, feel more secure and safe now and later in life
Babies have a decreased risk of flat head syndrome caused by extensive amount of time spent in a car seat and/or sleeping on their back
Babies establish independence earlier
What are differences between i-Angel's various hipseat carriers?
Aside from the difference in the look, there are 3 functions that apply to all of our hipseat carriers:
- hipseat carrier
- hipseat only used with supporting arm
- hipseat only used as a nursing sling with supporting arm(s)
The Rainbow collections have an additional function of also converting into a carrier without the hipseat. This gives parents the option to use the carrier function with their newborn and then step up to the hipseat carrier afterwards.
There are 2 accessories that we include for free with all our hipseat carriers:
- organic cotton teething pads
- sleeping hood (also used to help shield against the weather like the sun, wind, rain)
The Mesh & Rainbow Mesh collections are meant for warm-hot climates that provide more ventilation for you & your baby. Ideal for the summer or tropical regions. However, most of our i-Angel hipseat carriers come with i-Angel's four season cover that helps to keep your baby warm during cool climates, but can be zipped off to reveal a mesh area underneath that helps with ventilation during warm climates.
The Big Size collection is constructed alittle larger in its dimensions (i.e. waist belt is longer, shoulder belts have increased diameter). These only come in solid colors and are similar to the Irene collection but just bigger.
What is the fabric material made of?
The fabric is 100% cotton.
Are the teething pads safe for my child to suck & chew on?
Yes, the teething pads are made from 100% organic cotton. The raw cotton has been cultivated and produced using the freeze-drying method without using pesticides or chemicals.
I am concerned about post-birth hip dysplasia, is the baby's posture safe in the hipseat carrier?
We encourage parents to do their own research and reference the Hip Dysplasia Institute baby carrier guidelines to understand what a "hip healthy" carrier should address.
“ The optimal position for babies, when being carried, is to have their thighs supported and their hips and knees bent (flexed). For healthy hips, the legs should be allowed to spread apart naturally and for freedom of movement to occur. Having seen the i-Angel baby carrier in use, I was impressed to see the baby well supported in a comfortable, seated position with appropriate support at the thighs in all possible positions of use. His position mimicked what we’d hope to see naturally with the hips spread and bent, knees bent and movement still able to occur. It is great to see a baby carrier allow for safe and comfortable carrying of the baby whilst maintaining a healthy position for the developing hips.”

I have suffered from back & shoulder pain using other baby carriers, how is i-Angel's hipseat carrier different?
The i-Angel hipseat, wide padded waist belt, and padded shoulder belts work in conjunction to redistribute your baby's weight to your body's natural weight-bearing hip region. This weight load design greatly reduces the pressure that would otherwise have been exerted on the spine and shoulders using a conventional baby carrier. The i-Angel hipseat carrier is extremely light weight, making it convenient & comfortable for daily use.
Is the hipseat carrier washable?
Yes, it's washable. We recommend pat cleaning with a wet towel or hand washing to preserve the longevity of the product. Please refer to our washing instructions.
Does i-Angel use any toxic decolorizing chemicals normally applied to fabrics?
No, i-Angel does not use any toxic decolorizing agents. Hence, keep in mind, that washing your hipseat carrier may effect coloring.
Can men also use the hipseat carrier?
Yes, fathers are equally able to use our products. In fact, many parents buy a his and a hers hipseat carrier set. i-Angel's hipseat carrier is the proud recipient of the 2015 Dad's Award from the UK.
How do I ensure that I am using the hipseat carrier safely?
It is the wearer’s responsibility to ensure that the i-Angel hipseat carrier is safe to use and that it is worn correctly. iAngel USA advises every purchaser to practice before loading your baby in the carrier, take precautions by using a cushioned area like a bed, or ask someone for assistance when using the hipseat carrier. Always use supportive arms to help secure your baby, and tighten the waist & shoulder belts so that your child is not loose but comfortably close to your body.
iAngel USA accepts no liability for harm caused as a result of the i-Angel hipseat carrier.
If you feel that the i-Angel hipseat carrier may have become unsafe through wear and tear, or has been damaged in any way, do not use it and contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for further advice.
